L'Atelier De La Patisserie Et Boulangerie situated at 17, Clairfonds No 2 Road, Phoenix, Mauritius strives to offer an innovative, effective, intensive education in which students are equipped to achieve excellence in the pastry and baking arts.

It is a vocational school that teaches based on the traditional Master-Apprentice model. Our students are optimally prepared to pursue a career in pastry after learning to use the finest ingredients and equipment and receiving hands-on instruction following each practical course.

During the course, and as a bonus, students will also have the chance to learn from acclaimed master pastry chefs from renowned hotels in Mauritius.

Degrees Offered: Certificate in Baking and Pastry Arts.

Concentrations: Baking and Pastry Arts; Cake Baking and Decorating; Artisanal Bread Baking.

Average Class Size and Student to Faculty Ratio: There is a maximum of 10 students per classroom. There is one chef instructor in each classroom at all times.

Internships| Externships: Each student of The Pastry & Bakery School’s full-time courses is encouraged to get as much experience outside of the class as possible.

The tution fees will include the application fee, deposit, insurance, equipment to use while at school as well as embroidered jacket, White apron and white calotte flat hat, toolkit and handouts for you to keep.

The main expenses outside of tuition that you would be responsible for the purchase of the ingredients to prepare the recipe that you will have to produce during each session.


Class Duration: The course duration is 6 months [24 sessions of 5 hours each] Once session weekly between 9.00 a.m. until 1.00 p.m.

Course Topics: The classes are offered in a range of pastry topics, including breads, breakfast pastries, cakes, tarts, etc.

I have had the chance to meet the Chef and had a discussion with him on the School as well as on the programme that the Pastry School has planned. I will not hesitate at all to recommend anyone to follow the basic as well as the other courses intenended. The Pastry School has all facilities required with all equipment The materials that the students will receive is a complete text book for him\her to follow and practice after attending the sessions. I have even noted that there is a Library with a wide variety of books which students can make reference to.
