"Dutch Mauritian-based sports photographer passionate about capturing the action of riders and alike in and out of the water."
S U R F K I T E P H O T O was established in Mauritius early 2017, marking the beginning of an epic rollercoaster ride for its founder David Varekamp. Since then, David has been shooting anything from progressing kite- and windsurfers in the calm and beautiful lagoons to the best pro-riders at the renowned waves of One-Eye, Chameaux and Manawa, making his way to the GKA Kitesurf World Cup as part of the official media team.
Having traveled halfway around the world over the past decade exploring, snowboarding, surfing and now kiting, David lives and breaths adventure. His favourite spot is out in the ocean, close to the action, connecting and sharing the moment with the riders, pushing the limits to get the shot.
In spite of the relatively short period that David has been working as a full-time professional photographer, he is in demand and regularly commissioned by national and international riders, brands and businesses. His work has also been published in various kite and windsurf magazines.
