What is a Low-Pressure Solar Water Heater?

Low-pressure solar water heaters provide several advantages for both the consumer and Mauritius. The customer benefits from a lower electricity bill, while the country benefits from less power being produced, resulting in less pollution.

A solar water heater typically consists of a panel installed on the roof with a tank and, in some cases, an element, guaranteeing that hot water is accessible whenever it is needed. Residential and commercial/industrial facilities can indeed benefit from solar water heaters.

Vacuum tubes are used in our Low-Pressure solar water heaters as thermal collectors. A vacuum exists between the two glass layers of this double-sided glass tube. Normally, a spray coating is applied to the interior glass layer to absorb the sun's ultraviolet radiation.​

Water fills the vacuum tubes and heats up by absorbing the sun's ultraviolet radiation. The ultraviolet photons are converted to heat by the vacuum. As the water heats up, the warmer water rises and is gradually replaced by cooler water kept in the storage tank's cavity.


What is a High-Pressure Solar Water Heater?

High-pressure solar water heaters work similarly to the low-pressure model except for the fact that they will provide much more water pressure in your showers and taps.

A high-pressure solar water heater (pre-heated) is generally supplied by a cold water pump. The hot water storage tank is fed with cold water and is heated by the vacuum tubes (same working principle as the low-pressure).

Hot water is kept inside the storage tank and water pressure coming from your water pump (1HP recommended power) will go through the copper coil found inside, which will then be heated by the hot water in the storage tank. The hot water coming from the coil will have the same pressure as the cold water, which is then supplied to your shower/taps.


Tips when choosing:​

180lts is suitable generally for a family of 2-3 persons. It can supply up to 4 persons if you live along the coast and using it only in the shower (No lavabo, Kitchen)​

240lts will provide enough water if you have a family of 4-5 persons and it can supply to your kitchen taps and lavabo.​

340lts is the option that you need for a family of 6 persons, can provide hot water to your bathroom, kitchen, and lavabos.

P.s No matter how many bathrooms/showers you have in your house, the capacity of the solar water heater depends on how many persons will use it on a daily basis.
