Job Summary | Vacancy for the post of Health & Medical Officer T1Diams, the NGO providing multidisciplinary support to people living with Type 1 diabetes in Mauritius and Rodrigues Island is looking for a dynamic Health & Medical Officer on a full-time basis. |
Duties of Job | Main Duties and Responsibilities: -To enhance the health outcome of all project. -To ensure that therapeutic education is in line with protocols and guidelines at b) below -To participate in the weekly medical meetings with management and staff. - To be present at T1Diams activities whenever requested. -To ensure proper reporting is done for all medical activities. -To ensure updating of personal patient files. -To conduct out medical consultations and advise. -To carry out medical review of T1D beneficiaries in coordination with T1Diams’ support and hospital treatment. -To liaise with hospital or private doctors on specific cases. -To participate in all activities related to the Diabetic Camp, including the residential camp. -To prepare synthesis of the current month information and actions to be handed over to the manager the third Monday of each month for the Executive Committee. b) Protocols and Guidelines -Document our protocols and guidelines as per ISPAD recommendations and the health objectives and support strategy of the Association. -Update those protocols and guidelines as per latest information. -Ensure the availability of updated soft copy and hard copy versions of those protocols and guidelines. c) Training -Consolidate the training of the medical team so as to be competent to implement the above mentioned protocols and guidelines in order to provide effective support to our T1D members. -Ensure that the medical team is competent to train new medical staff and non-medical staff. -Ensure training of new recruits and volunteers. -Organise an updating session with MOH nurses. -Ensure the availability of updated soft copy and hard copy versions of training materials. d) National partnership and regional/international collaboration -Ensure close collaboration with the Ministry of Health and other Ministries (as required) -Ensure the MOH is systematically informed of T1Diams initiatives and activities. -Organise collaboration with CHU-Sud Reunion (training, diabetes camp, Medical Update, etc) e) Research -To provide update on latest medical research relevant to type 1 diabetes treatment and care. - To collaborate in the design and conduct of research projects. -To collaborate in the writing of research papers. - Ensure that medical information in the SWEET DPV system is accurate and up-to-date and carry out data analysis and reporting. f) Any other cognate duties What we offer at T1Diams: Application Mode: The organization reserves the right to convene only the best qualified candidates for interviews. |
Skills/Competencies | - People oriented approach -Excellent communication, analytic and listening skills -Respect, empathy and discretion -Proactive and self directed person -Ability to adapt to all social strata and environment -Fluent in Creole, French and English -Ability to work in teams -Understanding of NGO dynamics -Comfortable using computer programs like Office 365, Excel, Word, Power point and Outlook or mobile programs like Whatsapp and Google Maps -Flexible to work irregular hours and after office hours, such as a mix of weekday mornings, days, evenings and weekends , as needed |
